Steve founded Scientific Aviation in 2010 and developed all of the software currently in use on the aircraft, UAVs and SOOFIE systems. He has a PhD in atmospheric science from the University of California and has been developing software for 40 years. He is an instrument rated commercial pilot and served as an officer in the United States Navy during operation Desert Storm. His unique skill set of flying, programming, and atmospheric science has resulted in a powerful combination to build environmental monitoring systems that lead the industry.
Steve has several significant publications describing the airborne wind measurement system, airborne methane emissions estimation, and quantifying methane leak rates in the Aliso Canyon disaster. In 2018, Steve was recognized by Goldman Sachs and selected to participate in CEO training under their 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) development program. He completed the program in November 2018. He lives in Boulder with his wife.
